Clubhouse

The clubhouse boasts a restaurant, an elegant lounge, a library, a cardroom, a bar, a snooker room and an outdoor patio.

Restaurant

An attractive restaurant offers delicious meals. Join friends for the popular Sunday roasts. Pull up a chair at the bar for a drink and watch a game on the large screen TV. Meals can also be delivered to individual cottages and catering can be arranged for private functions.

Bar

The bar is situated at the back of the lounge area, next to the snooker room, and is open on Tuesday and Friday evenings from 5pm to 6.30 as well as for special events. Residents volunteer to man the bar.

Library

The library has developed into a huge asset to Sandown Village and has a comprehensive collection of reading material reflecting the interests and tastes of all residents. The library is operated entirely by volunteers and membership is free. These Sandown Village residents generously donate their time and run the library in an efficient, friendly, and welcoming manner. The library is open to all residents Monday to Sunday from 07h00 to 19h00.

Hairdresser

The Village has its own salon for both men and women at extremely reasonable prices. The services are outsourced, and residents need to book directly with the hairdresser.

Swimming Pool

Relax and unwind at our pool which is a tranquil spot to soak up some of that gorgeous South African sun, or just to cool off during a hot summer day.

Bridge

The Bridge Club is open to all and play is every Monday at 13h00 for experienced players. Beginners who are interested in playing should contact the president for further information.

Snooker Room

Sandown Village boasts a snooker room and a full-size snooker table which is open to all residents.

Dancing & Exercise Classes

Residents can join the morning dancing classes where we enjoy choreographed dance moves to great music.

• SASFA exercise classes take place every Tuesday from 08h30 to 09h30 in the dining room.
• Line Dancing classes take place every Thursday from 09h00 to 10h00 in the dining room. Beginners class starts at 10h00.

Arts & Crafts

The Sandown Village Arts & Crafts Society offers a diversity of crafts. This is popular among our residents and is a wonderful way to allow people to express themselves and keep minds stimulated. It’s an enjoyable path to relaxation and a sense of achievement, and a great way to get to know like-minded residents. The shared arts and crafts experience also brings you into a friendly social group.

The Arts & Crafts group meet every Thursday from 13h00 to 15h00, and offer a range of fun and exciting crafts for residents which include:

• Bead work
• Painting
• Fabric painting
• Sun dyeing
• Paper folding – gift boxes
• Mosaic work on crockery and pottery
• Decoupage on calendars/coasters/crockery/pots
• Crochet

Knit and Natter

The group meets on a Wednesday twice in a month to share tips and ideas and sit and chat whilst enjoying their favourite hobby.

Social and Entertainment Committee

The village has an Entertainment Committee that arranges various activities including bingo, darts, braais, film evenings, social events, etc.Villagers thoroughly enjoy the wide range of activities and entertainment that they can take part in. There is something for everyone, and some of these activities are listed below.

Televised Sporting Events

Major local and international sporting events are shown on the large-screen TV in the lounge area. Residents are encouraged to come and support their team/s, and join in with the fun, excitement, and camaraderie of the event.

Movie Nights

These are held once a month and introduce many of the old classics.

Guest speakers

Guest speakers are booked on a regular basis and speak on a variety of interesting topics. This has proved very popular with the residents.

Socials

There are also occasional themed evenings, and who doesn’t like to dress up and dance?

Outings

Organised outings are arranged to local places of interest.
